Bid for friends group to protect city beauty spot
A NEGLECTED beauty spot could soon be given a new lease of life.
Craigiebuckler and Seafield Community Council at its meeting on 3 April agreed to support local residents to form a friends group for Walker Dam in a bid to protect and improve the West End wildlife site.
Allan Davidson, who lives nearby, is spearheading the initiative. He said “We want to maintain the burn as it is. It is an unused green space – some people in the local community probably don’t even know about it. People know the water is there, but some have never walked up and down the bank and it is a lovely walk.
The precedent has been set by neighbouring friends groups and we are looking to raise interest in the area and get support up and running in the near future.”
