WITHDRAWAL OF THE No 5 BUS SERVICE &
THE RE-ROUTING OF THE No 15

Dear Resident,

PUBLIC MEETING COMMENCING AT 7 PM ON 21st OCTOBER IN THE DINING HALL, AIRYHALL PRIMARY SCHOOL.

The re-routing of the number 15 bus has meant longer journey times to city centre destinations, resulting in inconvenience to passengers.  This, coupled with the losses of the evening and Sunday services, has isolated thousands of residents from the leisure amenities of the city centre, thus encouraging travel by private car. Furthermore connectivity with other forms of public transport - and other bus routes - has been impaired as a result of First's unwelcome service reduction, which flies in the face of Scottish Government objectives to meet carbon reduction targets by promoting the need for sustainable forms of transport. It also fails to support the Council's efforts to reduce car congestion in the city centre. In addition, the withdrawal of the evening/night service is a cause for concern in relation to drinking and driving.
This public meeting has been arranged by Councillor Ross Thomson. David Phillips, Managing Director of First Bus and Chris Cormack of the Council' Public Transport Unit will also be present to hear your views and answer questions.

Please come along and have your say.

Yours sincerely,
William Sell,
Chair,
Craigiebuckler and Seafield Community Council.
