Community Council members, at the meeting on 15 June, agreed that various stakeholders in the community council and surrounding areas should be notified that an initial Liaison Group Meeting was to be held during week commencing Monday 28 June ( the last week of school session). An extract of the letter, see below, has been circulated to:

Hazlehead Academy Parent Council: Hazlehead Primary School Parent Council: Hazledene School Parent Council:Harlaw Academy Parent Council:

"Our Community Council met last night to discuss this proposal having been advised that Peter Lawrence, Waste Management Strategist, ACC, had intended inviting certain stakeholders to a Liaison Group Meeting during week commencing Monday 28 June, 2010.  Whilst we totally oppose the chosen site for the Recycling Centre, to ensure that we correctly represent the views of residents in our area, we are anxious to be involved in the consultative process.  However, the collective opinion of members of the Community Council is that the timing of a meeting during the last week of school session is completely inappropriate. This is especially the case given that this proposal will have a major impact on local pupils.

This timing gives insufficient opportunity for schools to inform their staff and parents because of the school holiday period and is clearly not a week that is supported for the first Liaison Group Meeting."

We have asked that stakeholders receiving such an invitation support the view of Craigiebuckler and Seafield Community Council and request an alternative and more appropriate date when genuine and meaningful consultation can take place.
