Most Aberdeen City Centre Council Car Parks From January

Approved by Aberdeen City Council’s Finance and Resources Committee on Wednesday 5 November 2025, the initiative aims to support city centre businesses following the busy festive period. The £1 evening parking rate will be available seven days a week after 5pm throughout January and February.

The participating car parks are Virginia Street, Gallowgate, Frederick Street, Summer Street, Chapel Street, West North Street and Denburn.

Aberdeen City Council Co-Leader Councillor Ian Yuill said the scheme had proved popular previously and was being reintroduced to encourage people back into the city centre during the traditionally quieter months after Christmas.

Finance and Resources Committee Convener Councillor Alex McLellan added that the reduced evening parking rate is intended to provide an extra boost for city centre businesses in January and February.

Motorists are reminded that all city centre car parks can be accessed without passing through the city centre bus gates. While some routes may differ from usual journeys, all destinations remain accessible.

For those affected by the Low Emission Zone — similar to schemes in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee — vehicle compliance can be checked online. Drivers of non-compliant vehicles can still access the city centre using 10 of the 14 city centre car parks: College Street, Union Square, Trinity Centre, Virginia Street, Frederick Street, West North Street, Gallowgate, Loch Street, Harriet Street and Denburn.
