Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders – Celebrate Aberdeen Parade

The effect of the first Order is to prohibit driving on the roads listed in Schedule 1 on Saturday 29 August 2026.

All associated side roads will also be closed. Alternative routes will be available.

All roads will be subject to no-waiting restrictions, including for Disabled Blue Badge holders. Illegally parked vehicles will be removed at the owner's expense. Restrictions will be indicated by yellow ‘No Waiting’ cones.

The effect of the second Order is to suspend existing restrictions and introduce the temporary restrictions in Schedule 2 from 10:15 to 13:00 on 29 August 2026.

Schedule 2

The following existing restrictions will be suspended:

  • The prohibition of right turns from Holburn Street onto Willowbank Road.
  • The prohibition of right turns from Skene Street onto Rosemount Viaduct, for buses only.
  • The No Entry restriction on Queen Street at its junction with West North Street.
  • The Access Only restriction on Poultry Market Lane at its junction with Queen Street.
  • The one-way restriction on St Catherine’s Wynd.

The following temporary restrictions will apply:

  • Chapel Street will operate one-way, northbound, from its junction with Thistle Street to its junction with Little Chapel Street.
  • Waiting will be prohibited in the Disabled Blue Badge holders’ parking bays on St Catherine’s Wynd.
  • Waiting will be suspended on the west side of Chapel Street, north of Thistle Street, for approximately 53 metres, except for taxis. This area will operate as a temporary taxi rank during the closure of Union Street.
Additional waiting restrictions

From 18:00 on 28 August until 13:00 on 29 August 2026, waiting will be suspended:

  • on the north side of Albyn Place, between Carden Place and Rubislaw Place, except for vehicles associated with the Celebrate Aberdeen Parade;
  • on both sides of Union Terrace;
  • on both sides of Schoolhill;
  • on Upperkirkgate, including Disabled Blue Badge holders’ bays; and
  • on both sides of Wellington Place, between Crown Street and South College Street, to accommodate the bus diversion route.

These measures are required in the interests of public safety during the Celebrate Aberdeen Parade.

Seafield Road

Order: Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

The effect of the order is to impose temporary prohibition of driving Eastbound on Seafield Road, Aberdeen from Countesswells Road to North Anderson Drive. There will also be a prohibition of waiting on either side of the same stretch of carriageway for the durations of the works. Illegally parked vehicles will be removed at the owner’s expense. The no-waiting restrictions will be demarcated by the use of no-waiting cones. The restrictions are in the interests of public safety during ACC maintenance works.

Groats Road (No5)

There will be a one-way restriction on Groats Road, from its junction with Queen’s Road to the southern entrance at the bus turning circle. The permitted direction of travel will be southbound. An alternative route for northbound vehicles will be via Hazlehead Avenue, Hazlehead Roundabout and Queen’s Road.

There will be a Prohibition of Waiting on either side of the same stretch of road.

These restrictions will be indicated by temporary No Waiting cones and appropriate signage.

Illegally parked vehicles may be removed at the owner’s expense.

These measures are necessary to protect the workforce and the public during excavation and cable-laying works for a new electrical supply associated with the Hazlehead Academy site, being carried out by SSE.
